Fans will see Rudolph Walker return to our screens as Patrick Truman in the coming weeks after he left Walford earlier this year to try and reconcile with his ex-wife Yolande Truman.
Now actress Angela Winter said: “I’ve been really looking forward to playing her again and I’ve had a wonderful time on set so far. I can’t thank the cast and crew enough for the warm welcome again.”
Executive producer Chris Clenshaw added: “I am thrilled to welcome the extremely talented Angela back to the role of Yoland Truman. Although we haven’t seen Yolanda for a few years, her departure from the Square and the breakdown of her marriage to Walford legend Patrick has left unfinished business between the pair.
“That’s why we thought it was important to explore the possibility of a reunion between the two.” We couldn’t be more excited to be back!”
A source previously told The Sun: “It will be a huge thrill for EastEnders fans as she is considered something of a cult favourite.”
They added: “She’s just one of several characters returning to Albert Square, and while she may not be as high-profile as Ian and Cindy, she’s sure to get an equally rapturous reception from veteran viewers.”
Yolande Duke first arrived in EastEnders in 2003 after starting a romance with Patrick in Trinidad, later marrying him in 2003.
The heroine worked at the Minute Mart and her most explosive storyline was her feud with Pat Evans (Pam St. Clement) when the latter had an affair with a married Patrick.
Winter was let go from the soap in 2008, with Yolande taking a senior job at the company that owns Minute Mart and leaving for her job in Birmingham with Patrick due to follow her. In the end, however, Patrick decides to stay in Walford, which means they divorce.
2017 saw a series of away visits that saw Yolande and Patrick meet briefly while she visited Walford on the Minute Mart case.
So will Yolanda be back on our screens for good, or is more heartache in store for Patrick?
