Petition to change 20mph limit back to 30mph hits 50,000 signatures

A petition to remove the new 20mph limit is Wales has reached over 50,000 signatures.

On Sunday, September 17, most 30mph roads in Wales changed to 20mph. This was part of a Welsh Government election pledge to try and reduce deaths, casualties and pollution on our roads.

There has been a lot of misinformation about the 20mph such as it being a “blanket change”. Critics of the scheme point to the potential impact it could have on the economy.

A petition called: “We want the Welsh Government to rescind and remove the disastrous 20mph law” has now exceed 50,000 signatures. The details of the petitions suggested it will cause “absolute carnage” on the roads.

The Welsh Government has pointed to trials of the scheme in Welsh villages where people were overwhelmingly supportive of the plans such as St Brides but the petition read “Mark Drakeford has come out claiming it is a success in St Brides Major but every time I go though there NO ONE is driving at 20mph.”

It goes on to add: “The Welsh Government was put there BY THE PEOPLE OF WALES, We are your boss! We demand that this foolish idea be stopped.”
