Sir Rod Stewart returned to the UK temporarily in 2016 with his wife Penny Lancaster and their two sons Alastair, 17, and Aidan Patrick, 12, but has now decided to leave the US for good, putting his Beverley mansion up for sale Hills for £56 million.
Rod Stewart has left America, calling it “toxic” after his wife Penny Lancaster became sick of their “boring” lifestyle.
The 78-year-old rock icon has even put her £56m Beverley Hills mansion on the market after complaining that she no longer has any “privacy”.
The Maggie May hitmaker, who shares two sons – Alistair, 17, and Aidan Patrick, 12 – with wife Penny, has no plans to return to the US and will instead stay at their £4million Essex estate.
Rod and his family returned to the UK in 2016, leaving behind their stunning European-style mansion in Los Angeles, but they have no intention of going back.
Penny is said to have grown tired of traveling back and forth from the US to the UK and wants to focus fully on her dream job as a volunteer police officer, where she has been working in London for the past two years.
The leggy model, 52, has also served as a panelist on Loose Women and no longer wants to deal with the “inconvenience” of traveling from Los Angeles to London.
“Penny loves the life she has created away from America and away from LA. She enjoys nothing more than police work,” a source told the publication.
“She also finds traveling more of an inconvenience than anything else and wants to just live her life as a working mother,” they added.
Rod has put the Beverley Hills mansion on the market with no plans to buy another property in the city, meaning he will make a tidy profit on the sale of the mansion he reportedly bought for £10m in 1991.
It has a 33,000-square-foot property designed by architect Richard Landry, and ornate Roman-style columns, wood floors, marble tiles, and crystal chandeliers are featured throughout the home.
The property also includes a three-story guest house, as well as two gyms and a swimming pool.
Outside, it boasts a five-a-side football pitch with the crest of Rod’s favorite football club, Celtic, emblazoned on the grass.
Rod, who bought the estate while married to ex-wife Rachel Hunter, focused on entertaining when designing his Beverly Hills home, and other features include a grand piano, a stunning outdoor seating area, a library and a huge dining room where they can seats 20 guests.
Despite his decision to stay permanently in the UK, it is understood the musician will keep his home in Palm Beach, where he and his family spend Christmas.
